Greetings from the Nelson’s – Christmas 2010

The Nelson family suffered a loss this year; Hether’s father passed away in April. Our grief was consoled by the many friends and family who expressed their warm memories of Mickey during the memorial service at The Church at Lakewood.

Otherwise, it has been a good year for the family. Ian (a new driver this year) was selected as a Washington Aerospace Scholar and participated in a week long residency program at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. This is a noteworthy accomplishment for his college applications this fall. Paul served as a volunteer engineer mentor for the program (but on a different week).

Hether entered a local amateur ice skating competition and won her division (albeit a one person division). Skating, kick-boxing, aerobics, and Zumba keep her fit, but there is some cost. Hether ruptured a tendon in her foot, but is mostly recovered. Hether has also been very busy with our yacht club and was selected as Woman of the Year for her contributions.

Bridget, our family humorist and artist, has been doing lots of activities with her dad: artwork, games, boat and train travel. She has recently become enthused about baking, and we are very fond of her treats.

Besides the perennial handyman projects, Paul has been leading a bible study of Revelation at our church.

Our family travel events of the year include a two week summer cruise aboard our boat and Disneyland/California Adventure theme parks trip coming up on Christmas week.

Merry Christmas, from Paul, Hether, Ian and Bridget!

“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
